Bokashi uses a fermentation process to help recycle your kitchen waste into soil conditioner. There is no kitchen waste that cannot be put in the Bokashi bucket. Great for people with little or no outside space for traditional compost systems. The Bokashi Bucket reduces the need for an outside compost pile and is easier to maintain than a worm farm.  The airtight lid ensures an ideal environment for anaerobic fermentation to take place, while controlling odours and deterring flies and other pests.

Dimensions: 41cm H x 31cm W x 30cm deep and is 20 litres in volume.

Materials: Recycled plastic

Unlike composting and worm farming, there is no food waste you cannot put in the bokashi system, which treats paper, citrus, onions, dairy, even meat! Simply collect your food scraps as normal and once a day add to the bokashi bucket, mash it down to remove air and liquid and then sprinkle a fine layer of Bokashi mix over the top, then reseal.

Kitchen waste ferments in the Bokashi Bucket, breakdown of waste will occur once it has been buried under the soil. How long it takes to break down depends on a few factors such as ambient temperature, it can be as short as a few days in Summer or a couple of months in Winter. Bokashi compost supplies nutrients and adds life (microbes) to the soil, improving the texture and water-holding capabilities and making your plants super-happy. You can either bury your Bokashi waste right where you need it or dig it up once it's broken down and spread it around the garden. Bokashi waste can also be added to compost bins to help turbo-charge the breakdown of garden waste. Bokashi juice can be drained off and used in many ways. The juice is alive with micro-organisms, when diluted with water it makes a terrific natural fertiliser. It can also be used as a natural drain cleaner.

The bucket comes with an airtight lid to provide the ideal conditions for fermentation. The bucket has a grate inside which separates the soiled bokashi waste from the bokashi juice, this juice can be easily drained through the tap at the base of the bucket.
