Polyester Solutions Wall Block Acoustic


These acoustic products reduce airborne sound, impact noise and noise transmission by controlling resonating noise in the construction cavity. Sound Solution products come as acoustic insulation batts and rolls pre-cut to fit standard wall framing and mid-floor joist spacings.

These acoustic batts are also perfect for making cheap but effective noise control devices to cut down excessive reverberation and resonances. Ideal for noisy cafes and restaurants, home recording studios, heavily tiled or glazed living or dining areas, anywhere that sound is bouncing around and being unpleasant. Simply make timber frames to fit one or two batts, cover with a nice looking fabric and hang on the walls or suspend from the ceiling.

Polyester Solutions Wall Block Batts are designed for the acoustic insulation of buildings and can be used in ceilings, internal and external walls and mid-floor cavities. Consumers both commercial and domestic have very sound reasons to specify polyester insulation, as a high percentage of the raw materials used in the manufacture is recycled material P.E.T (polyethylene terephthalate),(clear plastic beverage containers). No gloves, masks or boiler suits are required to handle this range of products.

Polyester Insulation products contain no ozone depleting substances, are non hazardous and meet Building code of Australia requirements. Polyester Solutions products are fully recyclable, unlike many other types of insulation which must be treated as hazardous waste.

Their manufacturing process embraces a zero waste strategy with all surplus off cuts recycled. The manufacturing process is inherently low energy use. All packaging materials are also recyclable.

To estimate the number of bags required:

  • measure the wall area of your rooms to be insulated (subtracting the area of doors and windows!), then subtract 10% of the area to allow for framing. (joists etc)

  • measure the average spacing of framing timbers. This is usually around 450 or 600mm. If you have 450mm spaced framing, choose the 430mm wide batts, if you have 600mm choose the 580mm wide batts.

  • divide the area required by the area per pack. Round up to the nearest number of bags.

  • you don't have to be exact with the estimates, there's always extra bits of framing to avoid or other gaps to fill in. Within a square metre or two is fine. Because polyester insulation is safe and non-toxic, leftover insulation can be used to make cushions, pet beds and kids costumes, restuff kids toys, make acoustic control panels, let your imagination run free..

  • E.g. We have a 4m x 4m room with 2700mm high ceilings with one door of 900mm x 2100mm and one window of 2m x 1m. The framing is spaced at 450mm centres and we'd like to install R2.0 batts.
    In this case we're insulating all the walls with the same type. In a normal house you'd usually insulate just the exterior walls and consider using sound insulation for the internal walls, depending on room uses. We'll assume that this is a house on a busy road with noisy kids in the next bedroom!

  • We have 4 walls of 4m x 2.7m = 43.2m2.

  • Subtract around 2m2 each for the door and window = 39.2m2.

  • Subtract 10% for framing = 39.2m2 x 0.9 = 35.28m2

  • looking up the table, a bag of R2.0 batts @430mm will cover 4m2. So we'll need 35.28 / 4 = 8.82 bags, which we round up to 9.

  • order 9 bags, insulate away and enjoy the increased comfort!
