* Have a look at our new window insulation film from EcoSavers. *

Window Film Insulation kits work by sealing and trapping a thin layer of air against the glass, working like double glazing to slow the transfer of heat through your windows. A great way to reduce your energy bills and increase the comfort of your home. Compared to double glazing they are cheap, easy to DIY install and removable. Even if you're considering installing permanent double glazing, you can use this window insulation film to see how much of a practical difference it will make. Great for people renting. See below for installation instructions.

Dimensions:

  • 3 window kit - (1.5m × 3.2m) will cover 3 windows measuring 91cm × 1.5m each and 16.5m of 12.7mm wide double sided tape
  • 5 window kit - (1.5m × 5.3m) will cover 5 windows measuring 91cm × 1.5m each and 25.2m of 12.7mm wide double sided tape
  • 10 window kit - 2 × (1.5 × 5.3m) will cover 10 windows measuring 91cm x 1.5cm each and 50m of 12.7mm wide double sided tape

Further information and Features:
Window kits have everything you need for installation: the crystal clear film, and double sided window tape. Guarantees a draft-proof seal. Non-splitting shrink film and tape removes cleanly and easily at the end of the season with no residue. Use a standard hair dryer to shrink the film to fit and provide clear view through.

How to Install DIY Window Insulation

  • Watch here for step by step guide for installing this kit
  • Or download our info sheet with instructions here.
  • Recommended for indoor use only on painted or varnished wood, aluminium*, vinyl

    * Some of our customers have reported issues with the tape not sticking well to aluminium window frames. Thoroughly clean your window frames first with a suitable degreaser (eg methylated spirits or pure alcohol) and press firmly over the film and tape with a smooth hard object after application to ensure good adhesion.

A better solution (that also addresses the issue of the aluminium frames being very thermally conductive) is to make a timber frame that fits tightly inside the window reveal and sits against the aluminium frame. (Use weather stripping around the edges for an airtight fit for best results.) Apply the film to the frame and add some offcuts to the front of the frame as handles to make it easy to remove when if you need to open the window.

You can download our DIY guide to making these from fly screen frames here.
